Procedures
1. Have each students say his or her name several times, using a different rhythm pattern each time. Then have each student choose a favorite rhythm rendition of his or her name, notate it in large notes on one of the 4-by-6 cards, and print the name on the other card. Check students notations by having them individually chant their names on the other card. Check students’ notations by having them individually chant their names to you while you check their notation for accuracy.
2. Game 1-- “The Rondo (ABACADA).”
In each group, have each students chant his or her name four times in turn, creating a rondo by following the pattern ABACADA. Then have each student choose a rhythm instrument with which to reinforce his or her chant and repeat the rondo.
INDICATORS OF SUCCESS

· Students create compositions by arranging their names in an order of their choice.
· Students create rondos in ABACADA form and perform their rondos at a steady beat and with accurate rhythms.
FOLLOW-UP
