Project: Health Triangle

Objectives

Students will understand that health is a combination of physical, mental/emotional and social well-being.

Students will be able to identify total health as a triangle, with each side depicting one of the following: physical well-being, mental/emotional well-being and social well-being.

Students will understand that all three aspects of health are connected and have a tremendous effect on one another.

Students will become aware of the choices they make affect not only their own health, but the health of everyone around them.

Students will create a model of what their health triangles would look like

Procedure

Students were given sheets of construction paper. The students were to divide their triangles into three sections according to what they felt their strengths and weaknesses were in relation to total heath. Each side was label accordingly as physical, mental/emotional or social. Next, the students were to write two examples of positive health behaviors that they practice or should practice that contribute to creating a healthy lifestyle. The students completed triangles were connected and placed on the walls to give them a better understanding and a visual model of how their health choices can impact everyone around them.
